My name is Lewis Roberts and I’m a bankruptcy lawyer helping consumers in Volusia and Flagler County end their bill problems.  But more than that, I’m a family man who grew up knowing the struggles of honest, hard-working people fighting to get by in tough times.

Some people say they have a calling, something they were meant to do with their lives.  Being a bankruptcy lawyer wasn’t a choice, it was something I was born to do.

I am originally from New York State, born in the beautiful Fingers Lakes Region. My family got smart and moved to Naples in 1986, and I got the chance to finish high school here in Florida. I knew I could go back to New York, but why would I? I fell in love with Florida, and came back to Naples to begin my legal career after graduating from Mercer University School of Law in Macon, Georgia.

A few years later in Orlando, I met my wife, Vaneza, and her son (who is now my son) Gustavo. Vaneza and I married in 2003 and in 2005 we welcomed Sarah, our daughter.

In 2006, we moved to Palm Coast to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city. Shortly thereafter, I established my office in Ormond Beach.

You know what happened in our area right around that time.  The mortgage crisis hit us full in the face, wiping out our home values and jeopardizing our futures.  Many of our neighbors just gave up and walked away, which left our neighborhoods full of signs proclaiming homes for sale.

Meanwhile, our employment situation got worse.  Jobs slowed to a trickle, and our bank accounts shrunk.  Our children started to wonder whether this was the life they’d live forever.

Fortunately, the bankruptcy laws exist to protect you.  Whether it’s Chapter 7 or Chapter 13, bankruptcy exists to help you get back on your feet.  Maybe you need to stop your foreclosure
